PROGRAM STRENGTHS AT CHOICES INCLUDE:

Experiential group therapy, utilizing role play, family sculpture, and group interaction to help clients deal with powerful feelings from the past, gain clarity to motivate change in the present, and experience the power of honest, caring interactions with others.

-- Examples of proven success, providing hope and encouragement.

-- Extra assistance in the beginning stages of recovery (help with compulsions and cravings, preparing food, having meals with people, etc.)

--Encouragement and examples for clients to begin or resume normal lives as recovery continues. In the areas of family, career, education, coupleship, sexuality, creativity, and finance; clients learn to face daily risks and challenges without reverting to eating disordered behaviors.

-- Strong, well-attended support group meetings.


EXTENDED CARE:
a cost effective, optional, longer stay. This is a full, five day per week program. Psychotherapy and assistance with daily living, goal setting, and planning are emphasized, along with financial, educational, and career counseling.

THREE-, FIVE-, AND EIGHT DAY INTENSIVES: in which we facilitate a safe environment for clients to resolve large life issues, to express themselves honestly, and to change negative patterns of interaction resulting in a new sense of closeness and sharing.

FAMILY THERAPY AND COUPLES COUNSELING: to facilitate honest, caring communication and intimacy between the changing client and his or her significant others.

A FOOD PLAN: based on current national eating disorders research, which is flexible, diverse, and appealing; to optimize relapse prevention.

COMPREHENSIVE AFTERCARE PLANNING: including consultation and continuity of care with referring psychotherapists.

SPECIAL EVENTS AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES: which complement progress with celebration, fun, and shared learning.

TRAINING AND CONSULTATION: for psychotherapists and treatment centers who wish to establish a similar, comprehensive, cost effective program.
